In today’s business world, the importance corporate accountability has never been more critical. Therefore, ethics training is becoming an increasingly vital part of any corporation’s regular training schedule. Ethics training is the practice of teaching all levels of employees — everyone from executives to subordinates — the importance of proper office behavior, spanning from accounting practices to interpersonal interactions. Due in great part to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, a federal law requiring corporate accountability through annual ethics training, this process is soon becoming a necessity in the United States.
The purpose of ethics training, above all else, is to provide an honest and fair business environment that complies with federal law and promotes equality amongst all peers. It does this through an annual training schedule, in which all categories of employees receive training that would be deemed acceptable in the eyes of any court of law, in potential lawsuit situations. While there is no concrete roadmap or template that defines what a business ethics training program should include, several trainers and companies have emerged that specialize solely in corproate ethics training; either through in-person trainings, or online ethics training.
